Most vintage wallpaper is about 40 years old or older. Normally it comes with selvage that must be trimmed. The best way to hang this is gently. Vintage wallpaper hangs best over lining paper or bare sized plaster.
Made in USA
Most vintage wallpapers were made in the good old USA
Trimming vintage wallpaper
You must keep a fresh supply of alot of razor blades. This is a very delicate wallpaper, and not very washable as a rule. The trim and join lines are usually off a bit.
Trimming vintage wallpaper
After trimming, plan the room layout and cut your pieces.
Hanging Vintage Wallpaper
This must be a careful process as the paper is so old that it's brittle. I use either celouse or wheat paste. Cutting at the ceiling and floor can be challanging as it will rip easily, but the charm of the "look" is definitly worth it
Matching Vintage Wallpaper
This wallpaper must also be trimmed. I test to see the best place to trim it as the "trim and join" lines may be off a little.
Trimming Vintage Wallpaper
This is slow and exacting work. I want the seams to be as invisible as possible. The paper is very curly with memory of being in a roll for so many years
Vintage Wallpaper has it's own look
They just don't make it like that anymore. Proper wallpaper hanging methods give you a one of a kind look.
Bueatiful Vintage Wallpaper
This paper was much thicker than the others. Great care had to be taken to prevent the ink from cracking and lifting from the substrate
Trimming Vintage Wallpaper
Trimmimg the wallpaper for a four roll bath must have taken about 50 razor blades
Wallpapered bath
Vintage wallpaper when properly hung is unparrelled. Old wallpaper certianly gives a special look.
